Ground-source heat

The building will be heated by a renewable energy system using ground-source heat accessed from boreholes, and supplying a Velta underfloor heating system - see blog entry for 23rd March. Underfloor heating is the most efficient type of space heating to use with a ground-source heat pump (GSHP)

A GSHP system consists of a ground heat exchanger, a water-to-water heat pump, and a heat distribution system. A typical system is shown above

The ground heat exchangers are U-tubes

inserted into

pre-drilled bore holes

No oil, but plenty of water !!
